Her career began at the intersection of media, social change, and commercial filmmaking, while she spent more than a decade filming the Los Angeles community that would become Shakedown. She went on to co-found and lead Hood By Air, developing the company through live performance, image-making, collaboration, and commerce before returning to complete Shakedown as her first feature film. The film moved between the Whitney Biennial, the Berlinale, museums and cinemas, and later Pornhub and the Criterion Channel, extending Weinraub’s practice of creating work that crosses established boundaries of production, presentation, and distribution. After Shakedown, Weinraub returned to study, focusing more deeply on performance as a directorial method.
She is the founder of TEXARKANA, a director-led studio developing film, television, plays, and cultural projects from development through production and distribution.
